We have at least three different types of outreach support available to our general community.
Presentation/Talk/Discussion:
This format provides the opportunity for one or more of our members to introduce the ideas and fun of model rocketry to your group.
Normally held at your location, on or with one of your regular meetings. The DARS has provided customized presentations from
"Hands-on Birthday Parties for Kindergarten Children" up to auditorium sized discussions on major topics like "Amateur Rockets to 50,000ft."
Flight Demo/Custom Rocket Launch:
Your group gets to see and participate in flying model rockets. At a minimum the DARS will bring a sampling of different rockets to match the venue and target group.
With appropriate upfront coordination, your group can build your own rockets and we will assist you to get them launched successfully.
A custom rocket launch is much more difficult to arrange however, because your group needs a large enough property to handle a successful rocket flight.
Minimum sizes are 10 to 20 acres, with a long dimension along the wind direction.
Hosted Group Rocket Launch:
We normally invite large groups that want to fly rocketeers to join us at one of our monthly Model Rocket launces. (Our monthly launch is currently held at our Frisco launch site.)
We have hosted YMCA, 4H and Scout groups of from 10 to 75 at these launches. With sufficient notice, we can ensure the correct amount of ground support equipment is available,
and get enough volunteer workers to keep things enjoyable and educational. We can support your group to pre-build the rockets and then all you have to do is show up and fly rockets.
